Betena Injera

Almost all Ethiopian food requires injera, a flat and pancake like bread made out of Teff, a grain only grown in Ethiopia. 

There are two kinds of Injera sold here. Ethiopian Injera and Injera made in the United States. Most are confused as to how injera made in Ethiopia makes it in time to be consumed in the US.

The answer to this is Ethiopian injera is packaged and shipped the same day it is made and arrives in the US with not much time spent on the shelf.  Given that Injera has a shelf life of about 7 days, if handled correctly could be stored and consumed for another 6 days. If refrigerated it could last a lot longer. Just simply take the injera out, let it thaw and consume.

We ship our Injera as soon as it arrives from the airplane and before it makes it on to the shelf. To ensure freshness we recommend shipping injera using priority or expedited shipping. Due to the nature of shipping and the type of conditions injera may be exposed to which is out of our control we do not offer refund for injera orders. If you strongly believe your injera was not packaged correctly or had defects that didn’t result from shipping you can contact customer service and we will consider you a refund.

Betena package contains 4 large pieces of injera and it is made 100% of Teff therefore it is gluten free.
